What is an executor?
It's quite an odd title, but simply put an executor is the
person you appoint to carry out your wishes after you've gone. It can also be a
company, such as Barclays.
Being an executor can be a complicated and time-consuming job.
Executors often need specialist skills or knowledge. You need to think
carefully about who the best person might be. Do you really want to burden your
friends or family?
If we are your executor, we can take care of:
•
registering the death and arranging the funeral, if that's
what you want
•
•
dealing with tax liabilities and paying off debts
•
identifying the assets, establishing who is entitled to the
estate and distributing it amongst the
beneficiaries
•
administering assets at home and abroad, such as property and
businesses, until they can be sold or transferred
•
acting as
trustee of
trusts created under the will
